HomeCloak

How it works

Here is the actual work.

Not a promise. The request we send, the letter that goes with it, the calendar we chase on, and the law that makes sites answer.

1

You add your home and prove it is yours

Your address, the people at it, and one document that shows your name at that address: a utility bill, tax bill, deed, or mortgage statement. It is checked automatically, stored encrypted, and never sent to any site. It exists so requests only ever go out for homes people actually own or live in.

We never ask for your Social Security number, a copy of your ID, or your date of birth. Some services do. A removal request does not need them.

2

You sign one authorization letter

Brokers increasingly bounce requests that come from a third party. So you e-sign one authorized-agent letter, once, and a signed PDF of it is attached to every request. Every email we send also carries this sentence:

HomeCloak, LLC submits this request as my authorized agent under Cal. Civ. Code Section 1798.135 and Cal. Code Regs. tit. 11 Section 7063, and the equivalent authorized-agent provisions of other state privacy laws. My signed written authorization is attached.
3

925 requests go out the same day

142 listing sites, map services, and people-search networks get a request written for their process, and 783 registered data brokers from the California, Texas, Oregon, and Vermont registries get a deletion and opt-out request. This is a real one, for a sample address:

Subject: Data Deletion / Opt-Out Request — Sample Resident

To the Spokeo Privacy Team,

My name is Sample Resident and I reside at 1200 Sample Ln, Austin, TX 78701. I am requesting, under applicable consumer privacy law (e.g. CCPA/CPRA, the California Delete Act, and equivalent state statutes) and Spokeo's own stated privacy policy, that you:

1. Delete or suppress any person profile, records, or search results on your site associated with my name at this address, including my name, current and past addresses, phone numbers, age, relatives, and associated persons.
2. Opt me out of any future sale or sharing of my personal information, and suppress my record from re-publication if your data sources surface it again.

Please confirm in writing once this request has been completed, and let me know if you require any additional information to locate my record.

Thank you,
Sample Resident

Every request is logged in your account with the exact time it was sent and the reply, if any.

4

We chase on a calendar

  • Day 14No reply? A follow-up goes out, referencing the original request.
  • Day 30Still nothing? A formal notice citing the 45-day deadline in the state privacy laws.
  • Day 45Past the legal window. The site is flagged in your account as ignoring the law, and a complaint packet for the state attorney general is prepared.
  • Every month afterEvery confirmed removal is re-checked. Anything that comes back is re-filed, for as long as you are subscribed.

Every reply is read, including the identity checks and the “please confirm” messages, and answered. A site that asks us a question shows up in your account as exactly that.

5

The few things only a homeowner can do

The listing sites and Google only accept a photo or blur request from the owner, and some forms sit behind a CAPTCHA that no service can legitimately submit for you. For those, your account shows the exact steps, with the request already written. About 40 minutes in all, at your own pace. Apple Look Around is filed for you.

6

You watch it happen

Your Cloak Level is one number for the whole home: photos, maps, and brokers scored together. It climbs as sites confirm. The Progress tab shows every site with an honest status: sent, waiting, removed, no record, or ignoring the law. And once a month you get the Monthly Cloaked Report: what came down, who went quiet, what we re-filed.

Look at a live account to see all of it before you pay.

7

The guarantee, and the price

$109.99 a year covers everyone at your address and up to 3 homes. Billed once a year, and we email you 30 days before it renews so there is no surprise charge. Cancel with one reply.

60 days in and your home still is not cloaked? One email from your account address and the first payment comes back in full. No form, no call, no questions.
