Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 31, 2026
HomeCloak, operated by HomeCloak, LLC, a Texas limited liability company ("we," "us," or "our"), is a privacy service: we help you remove photos and personal information about your home from real-estate listing sites, property-data brokers, and people-search sites, and help you get your home blurred in street-level map imagery. Because our entire product is about protecting your privacy, we hold ourselves to the same standard we push other companies toward. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, who we share it with, and what your choices are.
What we collect
- Account information: your name, email address, and a password (we store only a cryptographic hash of your password, never the password itself).
- Property information: the address of each property you add, including addresses submitted through our free exposure scan.
- Ownership documents: documents you upload to verify you own or live at a property (for example, a utility bill, tax bill, deed, or mortgage statement).
- Purchase records: which products you bought for which property, and payment metadata from our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number — payment details are handled entirely by Stripe.
- Removal-request correspondence: the removal requests we send on your behalf and the replies that come back from the companies we contact.
How we use your information
- To perform the service you purchased. This is the core of what we do, and it necessarily involves sharing some of your information outward: when you buy a removal product, we send your name and property address to the specific listing sites, data brokers, and map services being asked to remove or blur your information. That disclosure is the removal request. We only contact the sites shown on your dashboard, and only for properties you purchased removals for.
- To verify ownership. Uploaded documents are analyzed by an AI service (Anthropic's Claude) to confirm the document supports your removal request, with human review as a fallback. Approved documents may also be attached to a removal request when a company asks for proof of ownership.
- To read replies for you. Replies from companies we contact are processed by AI to update your request status automatically (for example, marking a request confirmed or flagging one that needs attention).
- To check blur status. For Street View blur purchases, we periodically retrieve the street-level image of your property address from Google to check whether the blur has taken effect.
- To run the business: processing payments, sending you service emails about your requests, and keeping the service secure.
What we don't do
- We do not sell your personal information. To anyone. Ever.
- We do not share your personal information with advertisers. We do advertise HomeCloak itself, and we measure whether those ads work using Google Analytics and the Google Ads tag on our public pages (see “Analytics and advertising measurement” below). Neither receives your name, address, documents, or anything about your removal requests.
- We do not use your information to train AI models, and our AI providers process your data only to provide the service described above.
- We do not collect more than the service needs.
Service providers we rely on
We use a small number of infrastructure providers to run HomeCloak. Each receives only what its role requires:
- Stripe — payment processing (your payment details go to Stripe, not to us).
- Resend — sending our removal-request emails and receiving replies.
- Anthropic — AI analysis of ownership documents, reply classification, and blur-check images.
- Google Maps Platform — retrieving street-level imagery of your property address for automated blur verification.
- Vercel and Prisma Postgres — application hosting and database storage.
- Google Analytics and Google Ads — website traffic measurement and ad conversion tracking, described in the next section.
Analytics and advertising measurement
Our website uses Google Analytics 4 and the Google Ads tag to understand which pages people visit and whether our advertising brings in customers. These tools set cookies and record standard web analytics data: pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type, and referring site. When you run a free scan or complete a purchase, we send Google an event saying that it happened and, for purchases, the amount, so we can measure ad performance. If we run advertising on Meta platforms (Facebook, Instagram), the Meta Pixel does the same for those ads, recording page views and free-scan and purchase events, so we can show ads to people who visited and avoid showing them to people who already bought.
If you run a free exposure scan and give us your email address, we send you the scan report and up to three short follow-up emails about what removal involves. Every one has a one-click unsubscribe link. We never sell or share the address or email you enter, and we don't use them for anything except those emails and, if you sign up, your account.
We never send Google your name, email address, phone number, property address, the contents of your removal requests, or your ownership documents. Analytics data is retained by Google for 14 months. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites with Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, and most browsers let you block third-party cookies entirely; the service works the same either way.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information while your account is active so we can show your request history and honor ongoing monitoring. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing privacy@homecloak.us. We will delete your data within 30 days, except for records we are legally required to keep (such as payment/tax records, which are retained only as long as the law requires). Note that deletion of your HomeCloak account does not undo removal requests already sent — those remain with the companies they were sent to.
Your privacy rights
Depending on your state, you may have legal rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information (under laws like the California Consumer Privacy Act and similar statutes in other states). We honor these requests for everyone, not just residents of states that mandate them — email privacy@homecloak.us and we'll respond within 45 days. We will never discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
Security
All traffic to and from HomeCloak is encrypted in transit (TLS). Passwords are stored only as bcrypt hashes. Ownership documents are additionally encrypted at the application layer (AES-256-GCM) with a key held outside the database, on top of the database provider's own at-rest encryption. Payment card details never touch our servers. Access to production data is limited to what is required to operate the service.
Children
HomeCloak is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. Property removal requests are inherently an adult homeowner/resident service.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above and, for significant changes, notify you by email. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
